The 2009 Katy Trail Merchant Conference is scheduled for Tuesday at the Katy Depot in Sedalia.

The daylong conference, which is sponsored by the Missouri River Communities Network and the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, will focus on forming an organization to provide marketing and promotional assistance to businesses and communities along the Katy Trail. The conference will include tours of the historic Bothwell Lodge and Katy Depot.

Conference organizer Maria Dorsey said in a statement that there has been increased interest over the past year in establishing a formal Katy Trail merchant organization.

The conference is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Katy Depot, 600 E. Third St. in Sedalia. The event costs $15 in advance and $20 at the door. To learn more, call (573) 256-2602 or visit www.moriver.org.
