BEAUTY TRICK: LASH EXTENSIONS
Published Sunday, January 11, 2009
Some of us just can’t achieve that doe-eyed look, even with two coats of mascara. False lashes are fine for certain occasions, but they look best when applied individually — and who has time for that on a day-to-day basis? For those who want the length and fullness without the effort, eyelash extensions might be the answer. Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic lashes applied directly to your real lashes and last for as long as two months, said Caroline Perdomo, an esthetician at Clip Joint Salon & Spa. About 30 extensions per eye are glued to individual lashes. “It takes about an hour and a half to apply a full set,” Perdomo said. “No mascara is needed, and that’s a huge benefit.” Eyelash extensions are available in different colors, lengths and thicknesses. “You can get a very natural look or, on the other hand, a very different look,” Perdomo said. When inquiring about eyelash extensions, be sure to ask about the glue because some brands have been found to contain traces of formaldehyde, which is classified as a possible human carcinogen.
