College forced to start over in president hunt

POPLAR BLUFF (AP) - The search for a new president of Three Rivers Community College is starting over.

Both out-of-state candidates unexpectedly dropped out of the running. Trustees voted against hiring the third finalist, who is already an administrator at the college in Poplar Bluff in southeast Missouri.

The board’s top choice was Devin Stephenson of Alabama. But he recently told trustees he has taken another job.

A week earlier, Susan Karr of Arkansas withdrew her candidacy, citing family health issues.

The other candidate was Three Rivers Vice President for Academic affairs Larry Kimbrow. Only one trustee supported his promotion.
