Two drivers hurt in morning collision

Two Columbia residents were injured yesterday morning in a two-vehicle collision in south Columbia.

The wreck occurred at about 6:30 a.m. in the intersection of Providence and Green Meadows roads, the Columbia Police Department said in a news release. A southbound vehicle driven by Goldie Lawson, 66, approached the intersection with a steady red light as an eastbound vehicle entered the intersection with a green light.

Lawson’s vehicle collided with the eastbound vehicle driven by Chad Kuester, 25. Both drivers were taken to University Hospital, where Lawson remained this morning in fair condition. Kuester was treated yesterday and released.

Both motorists wore seat belts at the time of the wreck.

No summons was issued pending further investigation.
