It's a wrap
Published Sunday, September 28, 2008
Scarves are more than mufflers. Although they’re often associated with cold weather, women wore them all summer long, said Sarah Hodapp, owner of Manhattan Closet, proving that scarves are a true fashion accessory.
And this fall, they’re hotter than ever. “I just had to make a special order,” Hodapp said. “They’re flying off the shelves.” Scarves come in countless forms, from Hermes’ sleek silk squares to Love Quotes’ loosely woven Italian linen wraps. They can add elegance to a simple dress or color to an otherwise bland ensemble. Although some prefer matching scarves to the overall color scheme of an outfit, Hodapp likes to see some contrast. “I don’t like them to go with the outfit,” she said. Instead, Hodapp likes scarves to stand out, adding overall zest. “I don’t think it just adds a different element to the outfit but a different pop,” she said.
