Bush to appear at Hulshof fundraiser

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - President George W. Bush is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof next week.

The fundraiser is to be held Friday at Hunter Farms in St. Louis County.

Hulshof campaign spokesman Scott Baker confirmed yesterday that Bush is to attend.

An invitation lists Gov. Matt Blunt, Sen. Kit Bond and former Sen. John Danforth as honorary chairmen for the fundraising dinner. The invitation requests a donation of $10,000 to $25,000 per couple to attend a private reception and photo opportunity with the president.

Democrats suggested yesterday that it’s wrong for Bush to be campaigning for Hulshof during a national credit market crisis.

But Baker notes the fundraiser is a week from now, and Congress is trying to work on economic legislation this weekend.
