Frederick Kofmehl, 1931-2008

Frederick W. Kofmehl, 77, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at his home in Columbia. Fred (or Fritz, as he was known to many) was born Sept. 15, 1931 in Pittsburgh to William and Cecilia Kofmehl. He married Lola Marsh in 1955. He was widowed in 1968, when Lola passed away. He retired after 20 years in the Navy and went on to receive a college education and become a teacher at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif., in the field of graphic arts. Frederick is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn Vilter, her husband, Dan, and his grandson, Matthew, all of Covina, Calif. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret, of Pittsburgh, as well as many extended family members and friends. He especially enjoyed the last three years in Missouri, where he made many good friends in the Amish community. Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.
