‘CSI: NY’ actor, author to speak this weekend

Actor and best-selling author Hill Harper will speak at Lincoln University in Jefferson City this weekend.

Harper will discuss the issues he wrote about in his New York Times bestseller "Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny," which includes advice and encouragement for young black men from Harper and other black celebrities such as rapper Nas and tennis player Venus Williams.

The book has received numerous awards, including being named best book for young adults in 2007 by the American Library Association. The novel was last spring’s Common Read selection for students at Lincoln University.

On television, Harper plays Sheldon Hawkes in the CBS drama series "CSI: NY."

Harper will appear at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Scruggs University Center ballroom on Lincoln’s campus. The event is free to the public.
