Cougars give Klein 101st win

The Columbia College soccer team beat Westminster 5-1 on a night the school honored Coach John Klein. Before the start of the game, Columbia College Executive Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs Terry Smith presented Klein with a signed game ball commemorating his 100th victory. Then the Cougars improved Klein’s record to 101-56-11 with a dominant victory over the visiting Blue Jays. Dylan Barduzzi scored the first goal for the Cougars (3-5-1) less than one minute into the game. Nine minutes later, Ilya Grin put Columbia up 2-0 with a goal that was assisted by Barduzzi. In the second half, Barduzzi scored his second goal off a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Zak Cobb put the Cougars on top 4-1 with a goal assisted by TJ Brown. Ross Matthew closed out the scoring in the 89th minute. Goran Vuklis notched the win in goal for Columbia.
Volleyball ● William Woods 3, Missouri Baptist 0: The Owls (6-10, 4-2 American Midwest Conference) won 25-16, 25-22, 25-15 to hand the Spartans (9-7, 5-1 AMC) their first league loss last night in Fulton. Skye Wade recorded four aces, Tinisha Donegan recorded four solo blocks, Molly Dougherty had 14 assists and Lacey Olin added 10 kills. ● Central Methodist 3, Avila 0: The Eagles (14-4, 4-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference) won 25-23, 25-11, 25-18 to remain undefeated at home. Rael Rotich led CMU with 18 kills to go with her eight digs, and Michelle Wilson finished with 32 assists and nine digs.
