A team’s need for speed quickly becomes obvious

Branch Rickey was the wisest man in the history of baseball. He brought the farm system to the game, developed nationwide scouting staffs, broke the color line by signing Jackie Robinson and built dynasties in St. Louis and Brooklyn.
