SNAPSHOTS

Nancy Russell, Jackie Kreigh and Sky Jimenez spent the week of Nov. 3 lolling around Honolulu while attending the annual Sweet Adelines convention - which this year was held in Hawaii. Observers instead of competitors, when the gals weren’t humming along with the rest of the audience they were bumming around singing, eating, sightseeing, eating, snorkeling, touring Oahu, eating, and most of all, having F-U-N. Old friend and former Columbian Nancy Freeman, who now lives in Ashland, Ore., met them there to get in some fun and sun time and make it a foursome. The two Nancys — Russell and Freeman — sang in a quartet together for 20 years and had a whee of a time tuning up again. Freeman’s husband, Jim Freeman, retired from practicing cardiology a few years ago. Sky’s son, Noah, and wife Laura, formerly of Jefferson City, also joined them. They currently live in Los Angeles, where Noah is pursuing an acting career. Missing from the group was Lisa Woolridge, another member of the Russell/Freeman quartet. Although she was in absentia because she couldn’t make it, Lisa was always with them because they cleverly took her along as “Flat Lisa,” and she showed up in all their photos. About her first visit to the land of the luau, Russell chirps, “It was a hoot!” And a harmonious hoot to boot.
