New show at Bluestem
Published Sunday, July 27, 2008
Bluestem Missouri Crafts has kicked off a new exhibition of big and small wonders with a show titled "Danny Meisinger, Clay Artist, Master of Scale." The exhibit features forms of all dimensions including his small vessel, above, and his 5-foot tall pitcher, right. Born in Topeka, Kan., Meisinger landed in a ceramics class by accident. Several years after his high school graduation he decided to take another ceramics class at the local community college. He followed that with a year studying at the University of Kansas where, "working 10 to 12 hours a day, I learned it all - I thought." Meisinger also said he believes there is beauty in function. The show runs through Aug. 31. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. 13 S. Ninth St. 442-0211. www.bluestemmissouricrafts.com. To see more of Meisinger’s work, visit his Web site at www.spinningearthpottery.net.
