Oro makes hole-in-one in Alabama

Columbia native Ryan Oro made a hole-in-one on May 24 on Grand National Lakes Course in Opelika, Ala.

Oro aced the 17th hole to salvage a score of 111 for the round. The shot was witnessed by Paul Rubenstein, Jack Rubenstein and Aaron Ciarla.

Boonville’s Oswald signs with CMU

New Central Methodist baseball Coach Fred Smith announced the signing of Nathan Oswald, who played for him at Boonville High School. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound pitcher was an all-conference selection last year.

Columbia teams win SoccerFest

The Show-Me State Games 3v3 SoccerFest was held at Stankowski Field over the weekend.

Columbia winners included the Columbia Bears Blue, 8-and-under boys; Columbia Tornadoes, 11U girls; Sysmex 1, 11U boys; Off Constantly, 16U boys; Gators, 18U girls.

Orangemen hold baskeball tryouts

The Columbia Orangemen invite current fourth-grade boys to basketball tryouts on June 21 at the Midwest Sports Academy youth center from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Moberly racers win at 24 Raceway

Moberly residents Robert Winfrey and Clinton Dale won feature races Saturday at 24 Raceway in Moberly.

Winfrey won the Hornets feature, and Dale won the Hobby Stock race. Cairo’s Jeff Creed won the Sportsman class, Holiday’s Gary Wilson won the B-Modified division, Blake David won the Modified Lites feature and Frankford’s Vance Wilson claimed the A-Modified race.
