THE TRIBUNE'S VIEW Gordon Lamb
By HENRY J. WATERS III, Publisher, Columbia Daily Tribune
The longer Gordon Lamb serves as interim president of the University of Missouri system, the more often I hear people say they would be happy to see him remain in the post indefinitely.
OPEN COLUMN Blessing offers much for community leaders Editor, the Tribune: It is often the case at public meetings and other civic events that prayers and benedictions are offered on behalf of the community and those in need. The solemn blessing quoted below is known as "A Franciscan Benediction." I think its words have much to offer such events:
OPEN COLUMN Support Tigers and push them to the top Editor, the Tribune: It’s that time of year again! The time of year when we start to think about how the Tigers will do this year and wonder if this might be the year. I live in Lincoln, Neb., but am Tiger all the way, down to the black and gold blood I bleed!
OPEN COLUMN Money for Vick trial best spent elsewhere Editor, the Tribune: I have read the federal indictment against Michael Vick and came out with one thing: what a waste of federal dollars! It is evident the government is flexing its muscles against anybody: terrorists, child molesters, drug dealers, murderers, chicken killers and now dog killers.

I believe he is in his late teens and is reaching out for help, but I can’t be sure. Should I advise forum moderators, who have his personal information?

Troops deserve overhaul of medical system The following appeared Friday in The Kansas City Star: The U.S. government demands courage and sacrifice from soldiers in war zones such as
Latafiya, Iraq, but it is letting them down with inadequate health care.
Picket line
no place for a president By PETER BROWN Sen. Barack Obama’s advantage in his presidential campaign is that he is a fresh face whom many voters - and not just Democrats - see as candid and capable of inspiring those who have become disillusioned with politics.
Justice first
This editorial appeared Friday in the San Jose Mercury News:
The wheels of justice have turned too slowly in the case of Pat Tillman, San Jose football star turned patriotic icon.
