PITTSBURGH (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals optioned outfielder Skip Schumaker to Triple-A Memphis yesterday, creating a roster spot for newly acquired pitcher Joel Pineiro.

Schumaker had a .304 average with two homers and 11 RBIs in 102 at-bats.

"I feel like I got more comfortable up here and I could actually produce up here, rather than not knowing if I could," Schumaker said.
